On October 8th in Parker, Colorado I loaded up my new BMW F650 CS motorcycle with all the things I'm likely to need for the next ten weeks - clothes, toiletries, a hardcore bike lock, and most importantly my laptop. I attached two aluminum side racks to my bike for more space to put my things, but I also have a large duffel bag that's strapped with bungee cords on the rear seat.
I had three major pushes with my bike that I needed to make before take a day to rest. I needed to go from Parker to Albuquerque (448 miles), Albuquerque to El Paso (226 miles), and from El Paso to Chihuahua (290 miles).
Riding this bike is surprisingly comfortable. My old bike, the Yamaha YZF600R (the Crotch Rocket), was brutal to ride long distances. But with the Beemer I'm pretty sure I can go all day on it with nothing more than sore hands from holding the grips too tight.
Now, on the fourth day of this journey, I'm due for a day off from riding. Currently I'm in Chihuahua and I have a full day to roam around a new place - and a day is more than enough to see the sights in this small city. I've already made new friends from the hostel and many are traveling the same length of time that I am, so we are sure to see each other again, perhaps meet at another hostel.
Tomorrow I'm headed out early if I plan to make my 2-month deadline to Argentina. I'm not too sure where I'll be going next, but the owner of the hostel (a French guy who is actually very cool) is full of travel information. I'm sure he'll lead me in the best path to take.
